Heavy Rainfall Leads to Crop Loss of More than 64 lakh Hectare in Country: Agriculture Minister
New Delhi: This year, the monsoon and the return of the monsoon had a significant presence in the country. The heavy rainfall in September led to the loss of more than 64 lakh hectare of the crop in the country, said Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in Rajya Sabha._x000D_
During the monsoon period, the country received heavy rainfall. Kharif crops in September were greatly affected. Crop such as cereals, oilseeds, cotton, sugarcane have also been affected. As a result, crop losses have been recorded in several states.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, the losses recorded are Rajasthan 27.4 lakh, Karnataka 9 lakh 35 thousand, Uttar Pradesh 8 lakh 88 thousand, Madhya Pradesh 6 lakh 4 thousand, Maharashtra 4 lakh 17 thousand, Assam 2 lakh 14 thousand, Bihar 2 lakh 61 thousand, Punjab 1 lakh and 51 thousand, Odisha 1 lakh 49 thousand and in Kerala more than 31 thousand hectares._x000D_
