Government is preparing to sell pulses, onions and tomatoes directly!
New Delhi. The government is planning to sell pulses, onions and tomatoes to consumers at affordable prices. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, along with NAFED and other public companies, will launch the scheme.
According to a senior official of the Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs, the government plans to sell pulses, onions and tomatoes directly to consumers. With this, pulses, onions and tomatoes will be available to consumers at reasonable prices. Farmers will also get a fair price for the crops. This will not only control inflation but will also help in the lifting of pulses and onion stocks from the central pool. He said that the ministry is negotiating with e-commerce companies to ensure their availability to consumers. Recently, there have been meetings with officials of Delhi Government, Delhi APMC, Safal and Nafed in this regard. Nafed pulses are procured from farmers at MSP, they also purchase onions for buffer stock. Similarly, tomatoes will also be procured directly from farmers. He said that on the increase in prices of pulses as well as onions, states are written to lift off the central pool, but some state governments only lift onions with pulses from the central pool.
