Edible & Non-Edible oil Imports Decreased by 5%
Imports of edible and non-edible oils reduced by 5% in May to 12,21,989 tonnes compared to 12,86,240 tonnes in the same month in the previous year. During this period, 11,80,786 tonnes of edible and 41,203 tonnes of non-edible oils were imported.
According to the Solvent Extractor Association of India (SEA), imports of edible and non-edible oils have increased by 2% in the first seven months of the current oil year 2018-19 (November 18 to October-19) and complete imports are 87,63,678 tonnes. In the overseas market over the year, prices of edible oils decreased by 8% to 20% due to high availability. Imported edible oils prices also decreased in April.
