Corona Virus Affects Cumin Prices
The corona virus spread in China has greatly impacted the trade of cumin seeds between India and China. Along with this, there has been a huge change in the prices of cumin. China is the biggest buyer of cumin from India. According to reports, there was a sudden drop in the prices of cumin in the market. Prices fell by 1,500 per quintal, down by 10% in one month. According to the reports, the sudden decline in the spice commodity is due to the outbreak of Corona virus in China. Cumin prices have been around 14,500-14,600 per quintal in the Unjha market recently. These prices were recorded at 16,062 on 15 January. The virus has certainly caused a decrease in demand. Generally, the Chinese visit India to choose and verify the quality of their order, but this is not happening currently. This is not possible due to travel restrictions and virus fears.
