Cloudy in the area, heavy damage to farmers' crops
Ahmedabad: On one hand, the winter is slowly arriving, on the other rainfall is predicted by the Meteorological Department in Gujarat once again. With the low-pressure system operating in the Arabian Sea,
Saurashtra and southern Gujarat may receive light rainfall. In the next two days, normal rainfall is expected in Amreli, Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar as well as Navsari, Valsad and Daman in the south.
Saurashtra received the lowest rainfall on Tuesday. An inch of rainfall was received at Maliahati in Junagadh district, two in Keshod, Mangrol, Vanthali, Talala, Savarkundla, Madhavpur. Perennial rains have damaged crops including peanuts.
Gujarat's 42 talukas recorded rainfall. The highest rainfall recorded was 2.8 inches. Due to heavy rains in Saurashtra and southern Gujarat, the farmers were in trouble.
Peanuts and cotton crops have been severely damaged in Saurashtra. Peasants who have been picking peanuts are fearful of the damage caused by the rains. The flowers are blooming in cotton due to rain. Hence, the cotton crop is also likely to be damaged.
