The Central Ministry of Home, Finance, Agriculture and Water has launched a tour to evaluate the damage caused in the country's 11 flood-affected states. A key group, led by the home ministry's joint secretary, Prakash, toured Karnataka on Saturday, according to a declaration from the Home Ministry. The key team will go to the site and evaluate the harm caused by the floods with government officials. According to sources, floods have impacted Kharif crops as well as vegetables and horticultural crops in Kerala and other states, along with causing damage to Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had formed an inter-ministerial team to evaluate the damage done in the flood-affected states at the high-level committee session on 19 August. The team will visit flood-affected areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Kerala. This team involves Ministry Home Affairs, Agriculture, Finance and Road Transport and Rural Development and Water Power.
Till now, the central team used to visit the states only after receiving memorandum from the state in view of the severe disaster like flood. The team set up by the center will visit the states again after the state governments demanded additional funds for the loss and relief work.
