Brinjal Shoot and Fruit Borer - IPM
Integrated Pest Management (IPM): • Select resistant variety for transplanting • Clip off the leaves to minimize the shoot and fruit borer damage in Brinjal • In farms, install Pheromone traps @10-12 per acre • At initial stage of damage, spray botanical insecticides • Spray cow-urine (20%) and extracts prepared from the Neem, Custard apple, Lantana camera or Jatropa (10%)
• On higher incidence, spray Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC 4ml or Emamactin benzoate 5 SG 4 g or Thiodicarb 75 WP 10g or Cypermethrin 3% + Quinalphos20EC@ 5 ml or Deltamethrin 1% + Triazophos 35% EC 10 ml per 10 litre of water • Change the insecticide at each spray • Do not dump the crop residues on field boundaries but destroy them properly Dr. T.
