Agricultural scientists have discovered genetic code in gram, this will help more production favorable to climate change and preparing the varieties of gram.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) said that this is an important contribution to global agricultural research and it will help to reduce the world's agricultural problems. In India, in the pulse sector, gram is the highest yield for us, so by increasing the production of gram, we will be able to self-reliant in the production of pulses.
Head of Dr. Rajiv Varshanyayej Project and Research Program Director, Genetic Gains (RPGG), told that the study of Genome-Wide Association has helped us to identify the genes responsible for 13 important symptoms. For example, we discovered genes such as R1, B1, 3-Galussance, REF6, which can help to bear the temperature up to 380c and provide high productivity.
