So far, around 300 tonnes of mangoes have been exported from India, by taking advantage of the various export facilities of the State Agricultural Marketing Board. Currently, mangoes are exported from Mumbai to America, Australia, Russia, Europe, New Zealand and Gulf countries. Besides, mangoes will be exported to Japan in the coming weeks, informed Sunil Pawar, Executive Director of the Board.
Of the total mango exports from the country, Maharashtra contributes to around 60 percent share. Besides Banganapalli Mangoes from Karnataka, the Kesar variety of Mangoes from Gujarat are also being exported. Various export facilities have been set up in collaboration with the APEDA Institute of the Central Government, State Agriculture Department and Marketing Board. Experts of the respective countries are present at the facility centres before proceeding to Mango export. According to the terms and conditions of their country, the correct checking procedure is done before them. A green signal is shown only after the certification from these processing centres.
