Center to Bring Subsidy Scheme for Solar Panels and Pumps
New Delhi: The Center is planning to bring a new scheme for the farmers providing them with solar panels and pumps at a lower price soon. Under this scheme, both central and state government will each bear 30% of the entire cost and the farmer will bear the remaining 40%. The Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Mr RK Singh gave this information in the Rajya Sabha in response to a question.
Central and State government has been preparing to distribute solar panels and pumps to 27.5 Lakh farmers across the country. According to an official at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, a solar pump of 1 horsepower costs Rs. 90,000. The farmer will have to pay Rs. 36,000 - as the 40% stake - for the installation of 1 horsepower solar pump in the field. The government will also provide EMI facilities to the farmers.
