Prevention Black Quarter (Blackleg) in the Livestock
Black Quarter or Blackleg spreads both in cow and buffalo via bacteria. In this disease, severe swelling appears in the upper portion of the last leg, due to which the cattle begin to walk lame. The cattle experience a high fever and a loud noise occurs when the swollen portion is pressed. Treatment and prevention: Contact the nearby veterinary clinic immediately for the treatment of the affected cattle. Delay in proper treatment of cattle can contribute to the spread of toxin-induced by the bacteria that spread across the body and can lead to death. Penicillin vaccines are administered in the cattle's high dose for treatment as well as ingested at the swollen portion. Therefore, in order to prevent this disease, vaccine is provided free of charge at the veterinary clinics; the cattle owners must take advantage of this facility. Source: hpagrisnet.gov.in
