PM-KISAN SCHEME: Successful Transfer of Rs 2,000 to One Crore Farmers’ Accounts
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme through the first transfer of Rs 2,000 each to over one crore farmers. The first instalment of Rs 2,000 each was electronically transferred to the accounts of 1.01 crore farmers and those left out will soon receive it.
"The first instalment of money under the scheme has been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers directly...those who have been left out will get it soon," Modi told the gathering at the Fertiliser Corporation of India ground.
He also interacted with a select group of farmers representing several states through video
conferencing. He settled the rumours by informing the farmers that this money was theirs and will not be taken back. He said the government intends to provide all resources to help farmers double their incomes by 2022. According to him, this scheme has been made fool proof and will be implemented with complete transparency and asked the state governments to present a list of farmers who would be its beneficiaries.
In the interim budget 2019-20, the central government announced the PM-KISAN scheme under which Rs 6,000 per year will be given in three instalments to 12 crore small and marginal farmers holding up to two hectares of cultivable land.
