Government wheat became expensive by Rs 55
New Delhi. Under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS), the price of wheat being sold by Food Corporation of India (FCI) increased by Rs 55 per quintal from October 1, 2019, to Rs 2,190 per quintal.
A senior FCI official said that in the third quarter of the current financial year 2019-20, the sale price of wheat will be Rs 2,190 per quintal from the first October 2019, while in the second quarter, wheat was sold for a price of Rs 2,135 per quintal. He said that in September roller floor mills had procured 5.13 lakh tonnes of wheat under OMSS, while the corporation had sought a tender to sell 22.92 lakh tonnes of wheat. He informed that under OMSS, wheat is being sold from Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. According to the fourth estimate of the Ministry of Agriculture, the record of wheat in the crop season 2018-19 is estimated to be 10.21 million tonnes, which was higher than the previous year's 9.98 crore.
