Ecofriendly Pest management in crop ecosystem
Spraying of insecticides indiscriminately and unnecessary has adverse effects on the natural enemies. Simultaneously, chemical residues remain on the standing crop. There also be adverse effect on our environment. Let us know about some predatory insect and what their benefit to the crop.
1. Ladybird beetles: Adults (having different dots) and grubs feed the aphids damaging to our crop plants and reduce the population. _x000D_ 2. Chrysoperla: The grubs of this insect devoured the soft bodied sucking insect pests e.g. aphids, whitefly, thrips, jassids etc. as well as eggs & first stages larvae of leaf eating caterpillars. _x000D_ 3. Syrphid fly: The larva of this fly also feeds the different kinds of small sucking insects. _x000D_ 4. Dragonfly: These continuous flying and active adults feeds on small insects as well as flying moths & butterflies. _x000D_ 5. Geocoris: This insect feed on all kinds of small sucking pests as well as eggs of leaf eating caterpillars. _x000D_ 6. Reduviid bug: This sucking insect suck the sap from the eggs of leaf eating caterpillars and destroy them. _x000D_ 7. Tiger beetles: These beetles feeds on the white grubs damaging to crop plants. _x000D_ 8. Pentatomid bug: This adult bug suck the sap from the various larvae and killed them. _x000D_ 9. Praying mantid: This insect captured the small & bigger insect with its first pair of leg and feed them. _x000D_ 10. Spiders: They feed on all kind of insects damaging to our crops and reduce the population._x000D_ 11.
