Decide on Rich Soil for Mustard Cultivation
Various varieties of mustard are grown in our country and the most prominent include Rayada -mustard, Yellow mustard, Brown mustard, Taramira, etc. Some of the major factors affecting the production of mustard crops in India include the preparation of fields, selection of appropriate field-specific varieties, use of balanced fertilisers, plant diseases, adequate prevention of pests and weeds, fog outbreaks, harvesting of crops at the right time, and like-wise. Selection and Improvement of Soil: Mustard crop yields well in loam soils and Sandy loam with flat and good irrigation. The pH value of the soil should be 6-7 for a good yield. Highly acidic and alkaline soil is not good for cultivation.
Non-Irrigated Condition: Special attention should be paid to the conservation of moisture during land preparation in rainfed areas. The use of 5 to 10 tonnes of dung manure is beneficial at the time of the last ploughing, together with 25 to 30 kg of nitrogen, 25 to 35 kg of phosphorus, 25 kg of potash and 20 kg of sulphur 90% per hectare when there is a deficiency. Although the use of fertilisers based on soil testing is beneficial. Irrigated Condition: In irrigated areas, first ploughing with soil plough and then three to four ploughing with harrow plough should be done. In the irrigated area, harrowing should be performed after ploughing. At the time of the last ploughing, 15 to 20 tonnes of manure or compost, together with 55 to 60 kg of nitrogen, 60 kg of phosphorus, 60 kg of potash and 20 kg of sulphur per hectare, are used when there is a shortage. Key Points to Increase Production 1. Select the variety according to the region and soil 2. Make balanced use of the fertiliser 3. Productivity can be improved from 15% to 20% by introducing hybrid varieties Source: AgroStar Agronomy Centre of Excellence If you find this information useful, click on the yellow thumbs up sign under the photo and also share this with your farmer friends using the options given below.
