Brucellosis Can Result in Miscarriage in Livestock
Brucellosis, a bacterial disease, can spread from cattle to humans. It may lead to auxiliary fever in cattle. During the last trimester of pregnancy, brucellosis may lead to miscarriages in cattle. Before the cattle miscarriage, transparent material is released from the vagina and the placenta stops getting pushed out after the miscarriage. It may also create arthritis in the joints. Treatment and Prevention: So far, this disease does not involve effective treatment. If in a particular area there are more than 5% of positive cases, Brucella-AbortusStrain-19 vaccines can be administered at 3-6 months of age to avoid this illness. The adoption of artificial insemination procedure of reproduction in cattle can also prevent this disease. Source: hpagrisnet.gov.in
